Robert, a native of North Carolina, embarked on his emergency services journey in 2000 during his senior year of high school by volunteering with a local fire department. His experience ignited a passion for emergency medicine, leading him to obtain an associates in Emergency Medical Care. Furthering his education, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medical Care from Western Carolina University and later pursued a Master's in Public Administration from UNC Wilmington. Throughout his career, Robert has remained committed to serving his community and ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents. Currently, he proudly serves as the President of the Cape Fear EMS Foundation, striving to make a positive impact on those wishing to enter the emergency medical field.
Elizabeth has a strong background in public service, starting as an Ocean Lifeguard in Carolina Beach before transitioning to a career firefighter in Brunswick County. She holds bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Nursing from UNC Wilmington, and has furthered her education with a master's in Business Administration from the same esteemed institution. Her commitment to ongoing learning and dedication to public service have molded her into a versatile professional. Her current role as Vice President at the Cape Fear EMS Foundation exemplifies her passion for supporting aspiring emergency medical professionals. Through scholarships, mentorship, and advocacy, she champions those who dream of making a difference on the frontlines.
Jont's journey in public service started during his high school years when he began volunteering with his small hometown's fire department, igniting his desire to serve his community. Progressing to a role as a paramedic at the age of 20, he was a member of a volunteer rescue squad and worked in EMS in multiple counties as he pursued his interest in criminal justice, obtaining a bachelor's degree from UNC Wilmington. He served 8 years with the Wilmington Police Department before moving to Charlotte. Currently, he holds a leadership position at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and volunteers in the Civil Air Patrol. He has two wonderful teenagers, Lucas and Caroline, who keep him busy and entertained, and have already started their own journeys of service to their community. His professional and personal ties to the Cape Fear area drive his desire to ensure that those who are interested in becoming EMS professionals are provided with the support they need to succeed.
Julie has over twenty years of experience in emergency services, starting her career in the volunteer rescue squad. In addition to her professional duties, she is a successful parent of three children. Julie's commitment to her profession led her to pursue additional education, resulting in her acquisition of a registered nurse license.
James is a seasoned professional with more than two decades of experience in emergency services, making him a valuable addition to the Cape Fear EMS Foundation team. He earned an associate's degree in Emergency Medical Science from Rowan Cabarrus Community College and holds a critical care certification. In addition to his professional achievements, James finds relaxation and enjoyment in the leisure activity of golfing.
Ashley’s upbringing in the foothills of North Carolina left an indelible mark—an appreciation for community that has guided her path. After earning her bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University, she embarked on a purpose-driven career, dedicating herself to serving the financial needs of North Carolina state employees and their families. Over the course of 15+ years working closely with fellow North Carolinians, Ashley has witnessed both their aspirations and vulnerabilities. Financial stability, she knows, can be fragile. Now, as she joins this committed team of professionals, she eagerly contributes to bolstering the Cape Fear Community—a place she holds close to her heart.
When Atticus was chosen as the finest K9 companion at the Brunswick County Animal Shelter, she didn't waste any time in becoming the ultimate emotional support pup! She spent many hours at the fire station, giving cuddles and comfort to the hardworking firefighters. Plus, she's always on the lookout for any sneaky squirrels trying to cause trouble. Atticus is truly the bestest good girl around!
