The Kevin Fuson Memorial fund was inspired by Kevin's legacy of giving, helping his fellow responders who he found in need. This fund is intended to help those who work as a prehospital provider in the Cape Fear region who are experiencing a fiscal hardship.
The Kevin Fuson Memorial fund is filled through individual donations and special fundraising events, separate from the educational scholarships available through the Cape Fear EMS Foundation.
Kevin Fuson was a remarkable coworker, friend and a part of our prehospital family. It was a tragedy when we lost him in 2022. Kevin was an unassuming leader yet inspired those who watched and listened. He was an understanding ear to those who needed assistance. He was consistent and acted with an infinite amount of kindness and patience.
Kevin embodied what it was like to be a true first responder. Saving lives as a paramedic, yet his heart kept him serving his community as a firefighter. Kevin was known for being a comedian, causing his partners to laugh all shift while on occasion getting into trouble.
If you are a prehospital provider experiencing a fiscal hardship, please email robert.hollyfield@capefearemsfoundation.org for more information.
"Kevin was a friend to everyone. It was my pleasure to work alongside Kevin for close to twelve years. I am grateful to have had Kevin be a part of my career and I consider myself better off because of it. I wish I could share many of my Kevin stories. The best thing I can stress to young leaders finding their own paths to supervisor positions is to "be more like Kevin".
